On 5th February 2009, Department of Mechanical Engineering and nation’s leading PLM company, M/s. 3d PLM Software Solutions Limited, Pune (Geometric’s joint venture with M/s. Daassault Systems since October 2007) has signed a Memorendum of Understanding.

Mr. Shashank Patkar – CEO of M/s. 3d PLM Software Solutions Limited, Pune, Mr. Rajiv Vaishnav – Vice President of NASSCOM and Mr. Paresh Degaonkar – Zonal Manager – NASSCOM were present on this special occasion. Also present were an eminent journalist and institute’s Board of Governer’s member Mr. Nilu Damle Saheb.

The MOU was signed by Mr. Shashank Patkar – CEO of M/s. 3d PLM Software Solutions Limited, Pune and Prof. A.R. Yardi – I/c Director of the institute.

As a result of this MOU, the institute will introduce an elective subject “Product Lifecycle Management – PLM” for the final year mechanical engineering students.

As the full potential of PLM is not yet realized in India, our graduate students will have new job opportunities with M/s. 3d PLM as well as many other industries using PLM solutions. This subject will introduce our students to a new area of knowledge and make them realize the potential of this area.

At this function 3d PLM and NASSCOM both agreed to extend the all the help and technical expertise in the form of expert lectures etc if required for the benefit of students. Also students will get opportunity to work on industry projects.

With this MOU, our institute will have preference for its students for jobs in 3d PLM Software Solutions Limited – Pune.
